    GF cornbread
I think I'm making this later this afternoon. I'll post an update with how it turns out. Naturally I'll be subbing all vegan ingredients.

    looming
Finished some wristwarmers earlier today. I had one completed, put them aside and had to do the other one today because I had another project in mind for that loom, which was an alpaca/wool soap bag that I finished a few minutes ago.

    jeans purse
Made this on Saturday. It was originally a pair of Mudd jeans that are now too big for my daughter and which I never have any hope of ever being small enough for. They'd been sitting around in a bag of clothes she was taking to college for a clothing swap but which has been in my front hallway for three months. On Saturday I just picked them up and informed her 'I've been eyeing these. They're going to be my new purse.' She was fine with it. I'd hoped to use a Thanksgiving fabric but I guess since I like the Harvest season so much I had used all of whatever I'd had in my stash. I refuse to buy fabric right now - the room is just packed with it. So this gingerbread cookie themed fabric looked good to me - it will be seasonally appropriate for a longer period of time. :)

I think I probably should have taken the photos before I put everything in it so you could see that it is nice and symmetrical, but this is the way it looks when I carry it all stuffed so you're seeing it from a realistic point of view. ;) I made a purse organizer a couple of weeks ago which didn't fit in the jeans backpack you can see in a prior entry but fits nicely in here. I'll photograph the organizer and post it in another entry.

Speaking of backpacks, they are normally my purse of choice - I like having my hands free, don't like being banged in the side with a bag and most especially don't like something digging in to my shoulder. I was a little worried I wouldn't like this bag while I was working on it but figured if I didn't that someone else would and I'd give it away. The straps on this are SO comfortable I love carrying it. No chance I'm letting it go.

    stockings
I'm working on lots of different sewing projects right now in anticipation of Christmas. Online Angels had a challenge for the month of October to send in Christmas stockings.

Here are the first three I completed. )

The edges look a little wonky in spots but that's just because I hadn't ironed them after I serged them and turned them right side out.

    yummy open face sandwich
Made this the other day. I'm sure you're all used to me 'eclectic' taste by now so here goes:

    One slice GF bread
    thin coating of Soy Garden
    big dollop of mustard
nice clump of baby spinach leaves
    slice of leftover sweet potato

    it even looked pretty )

    pink silk and denim skirt
In the prior entry I showed the skirt I made from part of another skirt whose fit I didn't like. Here's what I made with the rest of that skirt and a washable silk shirt I LOVED but that was way too big for me to wear even if I tied the bottom, rolled the sleeves, tucked it in, etc.

    rear )

It was too long. Instead of hemming, I sewed some elastic in to ruch it. I really like it. My hubby and kid loved it. Best of all, I have the perfect bustier and denim over shirt to wear with it. Great outfit from something I loved too much to part with but couldn't have otherwise gotten away with wearing.

denim skirt with cool red accents
So I had a denim skirt that fell in a spot that wasn't attractive for me. It was long enough that rather than hemming it, I could cut it in a way to end up with supplies for two skirts. )

As you can see, there was a rather big slit up the front. I'd previously sewn a piece of rough textured silk in there. I started the skirt's next incarnation by removing that and replacing it with some lace up trim I'd gotten for .40 out of the Joann's 90% off clearance bin. My long serger tweezers came in very handy when it came to pulling the ends of that rather long lace through the loops just barely big enough to accommodate it. Here's the details of the trim. )

Next I added a red waistband. The fabric was $1.75/yd. @ RagShop. I'm going to use the rest to make a matching backpack when I have the time. Here's the finished skirt. )

And here it is on me. )

Now to decide what the bottom half of the second skirt will be. I had some tweed I liked but my kid nixed the idea, saying it looked too 'heavy' and that style of skirt looks best with something 'lighter' than denim on the bottom.

She had hers on toasted GF bread with melted Veggie cheese. I had mine open faced on GF toast.

    new concepts
If you encounter something you're unfamiliar with, you should familiarize yourself before making assumptions. Why is it that so many just have a knee jerk fear reaction to new things?

We should always strive to be learning and bettering outselves.

    Suggestions for baby things
I sew, loom knit and like to try out other new crafty things whenever I come across something that sounds interesting.

I'd like to make some things for the baby boy of a goth inclined relative who was born a couple of months ago because Hot Topic only has one or two baby things that I've seen. Anyone have suggestions as to things you might like for your infant if you were a new Mom?

    little fleece blankie
Bought a cute fleece remnant the other day. Was somewhat bored last night so I made a small fleece blankie for my little great-nephew. star blankie under here )

Nothing fancy or complicated but it kept me busy for a little bit and I think it is cute.

    green beans, tomatoes and basil
    Everyone enjoyed this.

Make burnt onions ), remove from pan, to Corningware and keep warm in oven. Deglaze onion pan with a little Soy Garden. Toss in 3 cubes Dorot garlic and 2 cubes Dorot basil. Swish around until the cubes are melted, while chopping 2 plum tomatoes. Add them to the pan. Cook a few minutes on low flame then add about 1/3 cup water and half a bag of TJ's frozen green beans. I would have preferred fresh, but I was stuck home waiting for the guy to come and change my windshield so I had to use what was available to me. Give the mixture a good stir, then cover and let cook until warmed throughout. Add a little sea salt and serve. Yummy )

I made some jasmine rice too.

    romance novels
My Mom gives them to me - we don't read them. Is anyone interested in -

    Hardback:
Five Days in Paris, Danielle Steele

    Paperback:
    Conflict of Interest, Jayne Castle
I'll Be Seeing You, Mary Higgins Clark
    To Love Again, Danielle Steele

I don't want anything for them - unless you've got sewing or other craft books/supplies you'd like to get rid of. I just want them out of my house.
